LIT 147 - Introduction to African Literature

Reading and discussion of oral and written literature of Africa with attention to social, historical, political, and cultural contexts. Selections from pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial periods will be included, with emphasis on poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and drama of twentieth-century sub-Saharan Africa.
