Graduation requirement: 60 credit hours
The Associate in General Studies (A.G.S.) degree program consists of courses designed to meet individual goals for personal improvement and self-understanding.
This associate’s degree is not covered by the “articulation compact program” nor by the Illinois Articulation Initiative. Transfer institutions will determine individually whether courses or credits will transfer. To be awarded the Associate in General Studies degree, a student must complete the below requirements.

General Education Courses (35 credit hours)
Communications: 3 courses (9 credit hours) Take both of: Take one of: Social/Behavioral Sciences: 2 courses (6 credit hours) Humanities/Fine Arts: 2 courses (6 credit hours) Social/Behavioral Sciences or Humanities/Fine Arts: 1 course (3 credit hours) Mathematics: 1 course (3 credit hours) Physical/Life Sciences: 1 course (3 credit hours) Mathematics or Physical/Life Sciences: 1-2 courses (5 credit hours) General Elective Courses (25 credit hours)
Choose general elective courses to meet the 60 credit hour graduation requirement. Any courses numbered 100-299 may count as general electives. Students are encouraged to explore one or more fields in depth. Contact the Academic Advising office for assistance with course planning. |
