Graduation requirement: 60 credit hours

The Construction Trade Technology program is designed to allow trade union apprentices to complete an Associate in Applied Science degree at Parkland College. Completion of this degree prepares student apprentices to enter management positions.

This degree allows students who have been accepted into the local trade union to earn an A.A.S. while they are completing the Apprenticeship sequence.

Program Notes

Students should consult with a construction faculty advisor to plan their course sequence for degree completion.
Prerequisites for required program courses may be waived for previous training and experience with program director approval.
Credit for prior learning proficiency credit may be used to fulfill up to 50 percent of the CTT A.A.S. program
Students planning on transfer to complete a bachelor’s degree should take note of the following general education choices:
1. Take ENG 101 - Composition I in place of ENG 111 . ENG 111 may fulfill developmental writing requirement.
2. Select a math course in consultation with faculty advisor instead of enrolling in MAT 131 .
Trade Union Apprenticeship Completion, as used in the Required Program Courses, includes courses from the respective Electrical, Carpenters, Ironworkers, Plumbers, and Laborers unions.

CAD 114 - Introduction to AutoCAD (Computer-Aided Drafting) 2 credit hours
CIT 212 - Commercial Facility Systems 3 credit hours
CIT 215 - Construction Cost Estimating 4 credit hours
CIT 216 - Construction Project Management 3 credit hours
MGT 101 - Principles of Management 3 credit hours

General Education Courses (15 credit hours)

HIS 145 - History of the Labor Movement 3 credit hours
MAT 131 - Applied Mathematics 3-4 credit hours
General Education elective - 3 credit hours (Recommended: PHY 120 )
