Program Code: G.RTT.AAS
Graduation requirement: 71 credit hours
The Respiratory Care Program prepares students to enter into the practice of respiratory therapy. A Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) will assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with chronic respiratory disease or acute respiratory compromise due to illness or injury.
Most respiratory therapists are employed in acute care hospital settings. Long-term ventilator facilities, home care, and outpatient diagnostic laboratories offer other opportunities.
This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to complete the National Board for Respiratory Care exams for the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential. Practice requires state licensure in every state except Alaska.
